Course Overview

The aim of this course is to produce competent administrators of the Cisco Unity products. It is the initial class in a two class series, the other being Implementing Cisco Unified Messaging's IUM, formerly Cisco Unified Communications System Engineer (UCSE). As such it lays a successful foundation for participation in the Engineer course because a student must understand the products' features and how to use them before being able to install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot them. The class partially prepares a student to take the Unity System Engineer exam (642-105).

Prerequisites:

Before attending this course, students need to have:

  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2000
  • A working knowledge of the Microsoft Exchange 2000 or the IBM Lotus Domino messaging environment
  • A working knowledge of the features, benefits, and programming of at least one manufacturer’s PBX (Cisco Unified CallManager or Cisco Unified Communications Manager preferred)

Who will benefit from this course?

  • End-user system administrators: People responsible for the day-to-day management of corporate messaging systems
  • IP telephony specialized Channel Partners (Field Engineer 2 role): People responsible for the planning, design, and implementation of Cisco Unity systems in an IP telephony environment
