Course Overview
Covering the core components of Citrix Desktop Delivery Infrastructure,
this course provides learners with the skills necessary to install,
configure and manage Citrix XenServer 5.0, Citrix Provisioning Server
5.0 and Citrix XenDesktop 2.0 Enterprise Edition. Through interactive
lecture and hands-on exercises, learners will gain real-world Citrix
Desktop Delivery Infrastructure experience.
This course includes select modules from the following courses:
• CTX-2201AI Citrix XenDesktop 2.0 Enterprise Edition: Administration
• CXS-200-1I Implementing Citrix XenServer Enterprise Edition 5.0
• CPV-200-1I Implementing Citrix Provisioning Server 5.0
Prerequisites:
Before attending this course,
students need to have:
• A basic knowledge of the purpose and goals of virtualization
technology
• An understanding of computing architecture, including network and
storage devices, device drivers and operating systems
• Basic experience installing and administering Windows Server 2003 or
Windows Server 2008
• Basic experience installing and administering Linux variants
• Intermediate knowledge of network devices and site architecture,
including configuring vLANs.
• Basic knowledge of storage terminology and technologies, including
partitions, SANs, LUNs, iSCSI, and NFS and CIFS file shares

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, learners will be able
to complete the following objectives for Citrix XenServer 5.0, Citrix
Provisioning Server 5.0 and Citrix XenDesktop 2.0 Enterprise Edition.
• Citrix XenServer 5.0
o Understand how the Xen hypervisor differs from other virtualization
methods, and how the Xen open source project and XenServer commercial
products differ
o Install XenServer Enterprise Edition 5.0 and configure CPU, network
and storage resources
o Install XenCenter
o Create virtual machines and templates
o Identify and explain the uses for XenConvert
o Manage virtual machine resources and life cycle operations
o Use XenSearch to sort searching and grouping in XenCenter and view VM
performance statistics
o Configure local and remote storage
o Configure resource pools and move virtual machines from one server to
another
o Identify the requirements for high availability and disaster recovery
o Identify the purpose and functionality of the xe CLI and perform basic
commands
o Identify and view tools for upgrading and troubleshooting XenServer

o Identify the components, infrastructure, services and communications

o Identify system requirements and install Citrix Provisioning Server

o Configure a Provisioning Server farm
o Configure Provisioning Server role-based administration using Active
Directory user groups
o Create a vDisk store
o Identify vDisk image modes and write cache types
o Create a vDisk
o Configure a Master Target Device and create a vDisk image
o Assign vDisks to target devices and enable Active Directory machine
account password management
o Block ports for a target device, organize target devices into views
and change the properties of target devices
o Administer vDisk connections; unassign, delete and backup vDisks;
release vDisk locks; change vDisk properties and update a vDisk
o Administer server connections, change basic server properties and
optimize performance by changing advanced server properties
o Configure two methods of high availability
o Install and enable printers on a vDisk and enable the Printer
Management feature

o Explain the features, benefits and components of Citrix XenDesktop 2.0

o Install the Desktop Delivery Controller
o Prepare a virtual desktop for delivery to an endpoint device
o Install and configure the XenDesktop Setup Wizard
o Create and manage desktop groups using the Access Management Console
o Configure XenDesktop policy management settings
o Install and configure Desktop Receiver software on an endpoint device
o Connect to a XenDesktop environment from a variety of endpoint devices
